COMMUNITY MESSAGE

Legislation introduced in the Virginia General Assembly and recently signed into law will result in two significant changes to the athletic pre-participation examination (physical) requirements for FCPS student-athletes:

Beginning July 1, 2025, athletic physicals will be considered valid for a period of 14 months from the date the form is signed by the medical provider completing the exam. This is the date on page 3 of the VHSL Athletic Participation/Parent Consent/Physical Examination Form (revised January 2021).

Beginning May 1, 2025, FCPS student-athletes are EXPECTED to have athletic physicals completed on the new VHSL Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Evaluation Form (revised April 2025).

As no one has rowed before high school we do not have tryouts for the team, and most members spend their 1st year learning how to row and compete against other people also in their 1st year. On February 24th, 2025 we will have tryouts for boys and girls at the school from 3:30 to 5:30 in Café B. On Tuesday, February 25th, we will start on-the-water tryouts at Sandy Run Regional Park from 4:15 to 6:45.

All athletes must register with the team before practice as we are a club sport not fully supported by FCPS. Registration and much more information can be found on the team's website https://wtwcrew.org/
