Woodson Soccer Rules 2025
1. General
All players are representatives of Woodson High School and are expected to act in a way that is an example to other students inside and outside of school. You are expected to follow all rules that are set forth in the Student Rights and Responsibilities as well as all school rules. Discipline for breaking school rules may require the player to be suspended. Unacceptable actions, including hazing, that are deemed harmful towards teammates will meet with the coach and may be suspended from a game(s) depending on the infraction. The coach and/or administration may add additional games to the suspension or may remove the player from the team for repeatedly breaking these rules.
2.Academics
All players are required to be passing 5 classes at all times during the season in order to play and practice. The coach reserves the right to require players to take weekly grade sheets to her teachers if the coach is concerned about a player's grades. If a player is not meeting expectations in the classroom the coach can reduce playing time until the player’s grades are acceptable.
3.Varsity Lettering
To earn a varsity letter, a player must:
a. Be on the varsity roster for a minimum of 8 games.
b. Be a player in good standing at the end of the year.
Any player who does not reach the 8 game mark for the varsity roster will receive a Junior Varsity Certificate as long as they are in good standing at the end of the season.
4. Social Media
Players are responsible for what they put on social media. If a player releases something that negatively impacts Woodson or the Women’s Soccer program at Woodson, they may lose playing time until the situation can be resolved to the coaching staff’s satisfaction. This may be one game or a number of games depending on the situation, and depending on the severity could lead to dismissal from the team.
5.Attendance
Players are expected to attend all games and practices.
If a player is not going to be at practice, they are expected to let the coach know either in person or by email prior to 1PM on the day of the practice.
If a player is going to miss a game, the player should let the coach know as early as possible. If a player knows that she is missing a game in advance, she should see the coach in person and explain why the game is being missed. All pre-arranged absences should be communicated to the coaches at the onset of the season.
An absence from a practice or game may be excused or unexcused. Excused absences may include:.
a. A school related activity such as a field trip
b. Illness or health care appointments
c. Religious observance
d. Bereavement or funerals
e. Administrator approved absences
Unexcused absences may result in a loss of playing time. Multiple unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the team.
Thank you for your support. The coaching staff is very excited about the upcoming season. We look forward to working with you and your families
